Mel Swartz was one of the stalwarts of the Friday peace vigil in Olympia that Artesian Rumble has played weekly for years. When he passed away at the age of 82, the Arkestra was invited to play his memorial service reception. Since this was a celebration of his life, and there was a request for
New Orleans tunes, our costume call was for "Dixieland Festive".
